HOMESCHOOLING WITH HILLS ACADEMY

When you enroll your child in Hills Academy, you’re signing up for a partnership with educators and other parents. You give your child the best of both worlds by exposing them to a classroom environment and the opportunity to build friendships as well as explore their growth and potential in a new environment and with new people.

You can be confident that we see innate value in your son or daughter as a child of Christ and we will remind them of their true identity. Your child will participate in field trips, service projects, Christmas concerts, and more. And YOU get a little me-time each week so you can stay on top of your homeschooling and bring your very best self forth for your child.

Parents homeschool their child with the curriculum and schedule that best fits their family. Kindergarten homeschooling families spend an average of 30 minutes per day on formal lessons (or 1-1.5 hours on a 3 days/week schedule). You drop your child off at Hills Academy 1 or 2 days per week and we do enrichment and social/emotional activities. Parents can still homeschool on those days before or after Hills Academy, or save those lessons for home-only days.

Most co-ops are groups of parents who take turns teaching. While this has some benefits, Hills Academy is different because we know education, child development, curriculum, and appropriate interventions and enrichments.

We are more than just a co-op of families who get together. As experienced teachers, we know the state standards and learning targets. While you are the primary educator for your child, we can offer guidance and academic support when you need it and enrichment when things are going well.

The number of children being homeschooled has grown by half a million in the last 3 years. More families are homeschooling and the negative stigma around it is changing. People are embracing the extra family time, freedom, and flexibility, and are searching for other families to go on this ride with.

The home-educated typically score 15 to 25 percentile points above public-school students on standardized academic achievement tests.

Home-educated students typically score above average on the SAT and ACT tests that colleges consider for admissions.

87% of peer-reviewed studies on social, emotional, and psychological development show homeschooled students perform statistically significantly better than those in conventional schools.
